Introduction to Center for Landscape Architecture and Planning (CLAP), Peking University
The Center For Landscape Architecture and Planning (CLAP), Peking University, was founded in March, 1997. Dealing with series of problems associated with development and resourse in the process of urbannization in China, the center emphasizes on the processes and patterns of landscape mosaic, tries to harmonize man and nature, modernization and tradition through urban and landscape design and regional planning.
Guided by theories of landscape ecology, landscape perception and sustainable development, and supported by RS, GIS and CAD technology, CLAP carries out researches as well as practice at various scales, including:
1. Urban design
2. Theory and method
of of landscape security patterns
3. Urban and rural landcape planning and
design
4. Scenic and historical site planning
5. Residential and
commuinity planning and design
6. Resort and theme park planning and design
7. Ecological design at varioud scales
CLAP has its own studios, computer resource center and equipped with various software of RS, GIS and image processing systems, including PCI, ARC\INFO GIS, ARCView GIS, Bryce 3D and so on. The center has close relationships with many famous international organizations, such as ESRI, the SWA group of U.S.A., and TWP Golf Course Design Co. in Australia.
